"Being heard" here means acknowledging that the LGBT+ community possesses diverse life experiences and varied forms. Is society willing to understand the different situations, contexts, and actual needs behind them? It means ensuring everyone's voice is taken seriously in discussions, rather than being quickly labeled, simplified, or overshadowed by emotion and opposition. Thus, we propose the 2026 theme "Our Voices, Our Journey" as an invitation and action for this moment. "Our Voices (Listening Together)" emphasizes the willingness to pause and listen before speaking. Following last year's theme, in today's world where information flows rapidly and discussions on gender issues become fragmented, we are often accustomed to responding immediately and expressing our stances quickly. Consequently, we easily overlook the importance of "listening" itself. Many issues are pushed to polarized extremes in a short time, forcing people to choose sides with limited words and losing the possibility of understanding each other. Yet, behind every voice are intertwined life experiences and circumstances. Some fear losing basic security, some worry their rights will be ignored; some strive to find a place to be understood, while others are still figuring out how to coexist with differences. Even within the gender-diverse community, different generations, genders, ethnicities, bodily experiences, and backgrounds can lead to entirely different perspectives and expectations. These differences do not mean we cannot walk together; rather, they remind us that understanding requires continuous listening and dialogue. We also believe that "listening" does not mean giving up one's stance, nor does it demand that everyone agree. True listening is being willing to understand why the other person thinks the way they do and why they feel anxious, even when differences remain. Only when diverse voices are present—not easily excluded, mocked, or denied—can society build deeper understanding. Taiwan LGBT+ Pride believes that gender issues should not have only one voice, nor should a specific group define what is normal or reasonable. When more people with different experiences have the opportunity to participate in discussions, we can move closer to a truly diverse and democratic society. And "Our Journey (Walking Together)" represents our vision for the future. In a democratic society, we are continually making collective decisions about the direction of our future. Whether it concerns gender issues, human rights values, or the understanding of social fairness and freedom, it cannot be achieved by a single group alone. It requires everyone living on this land to participate, discuss, and bear responsibility together. This journey may often be accompanied by divergence, tugs-of-war, and conflicts; but precisely because of this, we need to learn how to continue walking together amidst differences. What truly matters has never been whether there are different opinions in society, but whether we are still willing to believe in dialogue and preserve the possibility of understanding and communication for our shared future when opinions differ. What kind of society do we want to become? Are we willing to allow different people to be understood, respected, and involved in the future? From street advocacy to issue discussions, what Taiwan LGBT+ Pride hopes to promote is not only the protection of rights for the gender-diverse community but also the hope that society can gradually cultivate the capacity for mutual understanding and support. In 2026, we invite everyone who takes to the streets to listen to each other's voices and walk the path to the future together. Regardless of your background or life experiences, when we are willing to listen a little more and understand a step further, perhaps our differences will no longer be reasons for opposition, but rather the starting point for moving forward together. Only when more voices can be truly heard can we go further together.
